HOW TO MAKE CHOCOLATE DIVINE CAKE FROM SCRATCH

This cake is quite easy to make. Set aside two 9-inch cake pans and cover the bottoms with parchment paper circles after preheating the oven to 350°F.
In a mixing bowl, sift together some cocoa powder and all-purpose flour. Mix in the sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and, if desired, instant espresso powder.
Next, prepare a batch of homemade buttermilk by filling a measuring jug with a tablespoon of lemon juice, adding milk to the line marked one cup and allowing the milk to curdle into buttermilk. If you happen to have actual buttermilk on hand, that’s even better; otherwise, the homemade version is excellent!

To the dry ingredients, add the buttermilk, eggs, a small amount of oil, and vanilla. Mix to form a thick batter.
The batter should now be quite thin after you whisk in one cup of boiling hot water from the kettle.
After preparing your two 9-inch cake pans, divide the batter between them and bake for 30 minutes.
Before frosting, let the cakes cool completely in their cake pans for a few minutes. Then, move them to a wire cooling rack.

WHY USE BUTTERMILK IN CHOCOLATE CAKE?

Since the inclusion of coffee truly brings out the flavour of the chocolate, we also added a small amount of instant espresso powder to this recipe.

The finished product will taste beautifully rich chocolate; you won’t taste any coffee.

You can, however, omit it if you find the thought of combining your coffee and chocolate cake to be repulsive.

However, if you’re comfortable with coffee, you may use instant espresso powder like we did or swap it out for any other instant coffee powder. Swapping out the hot water for a cup of hot filter coffee is an additional alternative. This can be used in place of or in addition to the powdered instant espresso.

MAKE IT DAIRY-FREE

Making this cake dairy-free is a cinch. All you need to do is substitute soy or almond milk for dairy milk when making homemade buttermilk. You won’t notice a difference in the final product because it functions flawlessly. Because soy milk is richer and thicker than almond milk, it usually works better; however, if you have a soy allergy, you can still use almond milk.

MAKE IT EGG-FREE

You can make this cake egg-free by replacing the eggs with 6 tablespoons of applesauce. It’s as easy as that and works great in this recipe.

MAKE IT GLUTEN-FREE

Use an all-purpose flour blend free of gluten to make this cake gluten-free. Similar to Bob’s Red Mill Flour to towel ratio will work great. It won’t work to use only one kind of flour, such as rice flour, coconut flour, or almond flour. Verify that the blend is designed to be employed in recipes in place of conventional all-purpose flour.

2 cups All Purpose Flour
¾ cup Cocoa Powder Unsweetened
2 cups White Granulated Sugar
2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Instant Espresso Powder Optional
1 cup Homemade Buttermilk
½ cup Canola Oil
2 Large Eggs
2 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 cup Hot Water

Instructions for Chocolate Divine Cake

Before baking, preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease two 9-inch cake pans and place circles of parchment paper inside of them to line the bottoms.


Add the sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and instant espresso powder to a mixing bowl after sifting the flour and cocoa powder.


To make the homemade buttermilk, fill a measuring jug with one tablespoon of lemon juice, add room temperature milk until it reaches the one cup (240 ml) mark, and let the milk to curdle to create buttermilk.
